Corporate Spelling Bee PDF Print E-mail

The public is invited to join us and 'cheer or jeer' on our spelling contestants.

The Chamber’s Education Committee is hosting the first annual East Montgomery County Spelling Bee on Thursday, May 20th at 6:00 pm and is inviting all businesses in the Chamber to enter a team of your greatest spellers. All proceeds from the entry fees will be given out in scholarships to area high school seniors to continue their education. The scholarships will be awarded through the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County through its annual scholarship program. The Chamber has supported the Rotary Clubs scholarship program for several years and this is a way to expand that support and at the same time give you an opportunity to support our students as well.

4th Annual Texas Sawmill Festival sets several records PDF Print E-mail

The 4th Annual Texas Sawmill Festival held on April 17th set several records with respect to attendance, number of vendors participating, and the overall success of the event.  Held for the first time in 2007 on Community Dr. and then in 2008 at Sallas Park the festival was moved to the EMCID complex in 2009 and the event really began to hit its stride.  This year over seventy-five vendors participated and several new kid friendly attractions were available at no charge to the participants.  The partnership of Porter, Fire, New Caney Fire and Splendora Fire Departments, New Caney ISD, the R B Tullis Library, Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Academy for Lifelong Learning and the many committee members and volunteers who helped make the festival a great success have our appreciation.
