Montgomery County Day at the Capitol
Every two years the Chamber along with the other five Chambers in Montgomery County make a trip to Austin to visit with legislators and see the workings of our state government up close. This year the trip will be Wednesday, March 30th and a bus will be leaving the EMCID building at 6:00 AM and returning that evening about 8:00 PM. As we did in 2009 we would like to take some of our area high school students so they can experience our state government in action. In order to do this we need sponsors for each of the students.
The cost of the trip is $65 per person and includes the bus trip and lunch while in Austin.
Our intent is to take five students and a sponsor from each of the four high schools for a total of twenty-four. This would result in a cost of $1,560 that needs to be raised. In 2009 the students truly enjoyed the experience. In visiting with some of the school sponsors who made the trip in 2009 they shared that it was indeed a rewarding time for those students to interact with the business leaders who were also on the trip. If you would like to help make the trip possible for the students and their sponsors please give us a call at the Chamber and tell us how many you would like to sponsor. We especially invite you to make the trip as well and enjoy the experience yourself. The Leadership EMC class will also be making the trip along with other Chamber members. The cost per person is $65 whether you ride the bus or drive your own vehicle. The overall cost covers the expense of the luncheon and other costs associated with the trip. Many sponsors have already signed up to support the trip thus keeping the cost per person at a lower amount.
