To become an active committee member, contact the committee chairperson of the committee that you feel best represents your talents and interests. A-Team (Ambassadors) Chair: Mike Harris (Long Term Care Partners) - Serve as Chamber Ambassadors the “A-Team” takes a leading role in our networking events including; luncheons, breakfasts, ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and other such events.
Beautification Committee Co-Chairs: Barbara Egan (Individual Member) and Virginia Hammock (Porter Special Utility District) - This active committee works hard to improve the overall appearance of the area through its beautification award presented to area businesses, plantings at Lake Houston Park and other local facilities, as well as actively encouraging area citizens to take pride in our area and its beauty.
Education Committee Chair: Dr. Bill Coppola (Lone Star College – Kingwood) - Provide local support for area public schools by staying abreast of issues facing public schools and the community college.
- Host the annual Teacher of the Year Luncheon and Principal of the Day Program.
Governmental Affairs Committee Chair: Mike Smith (Mike Smith Insurance) - Stay abreast of local, state, and national issues that could impact East Montgomery County and Chamber members.
- Build relationships with elected officials through regular interaction.
- Prepare position papers as required to submit to the Chamber Board and various governmental entities.
- Lead local delegation to Austin during Texas Legislature’s sessions.
Membership, Marketing and CommunicationsChair: Teri Kropik (Rhino Financial Mortgage and Houston CHEMSafe) - Identify methods to enhance the membership value for all members
- Organize annual membership drive
- Promote the Chamber through various marketing methods including written and electronic means
Team City EMC Community PlanningChair: Dr. Ike Williams (Individual Member) - Plan and coordinate the bi-annual Team City East Montgomery County Community Planning Summit in partnership with Entergy Texas’s Team City economic development program.
- Seek input from Chamber members and area citizens on what is important for them for our community and assists the Chamber Board in the development and implementation of the annual Program of Work.
Health & Wellness Task Force(Meets as required) - Identify potential issues that have an impact on the health care services within the area, disseminating that information to the general public, and promoting a healthy lifestyle for area citizens.
- Partners with other entities in the area to promote health and wellness which could include supporting their health expos.
Transportation Task Force(Meets as required) - Stay informed of mobility projects that will have an impact on the quality of life of East Montgomery County.
